Is your bike ready for summer?

Updated: Jun 28, 2020

Whether you're a lover of the Classic's such as Triumph, or the modern sports bikes like the Honda CBR650R, your motorbike will more than likely be needing a service in the next few weeks, after spending months hidden away (hopefully not gathering dust) in the garage.

As a fellow motorcycle enthusiast, the owner of Donna's MOT and Tyre centre in March tells us there’s nothing worse than setting off on a summer ride, then suddenly coming across a mechanical issue when you're miles away from home - or from the nearest garage! So you need to ensure they are safe to take on that long drive to your camping trip to Wales, or even the not so long drive to Hunstanton beach!

If you’ve ever experienced this, then you know what Donna is talking about. There are a few precautions bikers can take to avoid these problems on the road, and the first step to take is to regularly maintain your bike, as Donna explains below...

SUMMER LOVING

With summer comes sunshine, and therefore heat. One of the things to deal with on your motorbike, surprisingly for some, is overheating. Certain factors will make them more susceptible to overheating such as hot weather, high RPM’s, and lack of proper maintenance.

There are two different types of cooled motorcycle engines - "air cooled" motorcycles and "liquid cooled engines". Whichever you have, it basically all boils down to ensuring you have maintained your bike correctly.

50 POINT CHECK

As members of the Good Garage Scheme, we are obligated to ensure your motorbike receives the full works when providing a service for you. However, it's not just our obligation that ensures a great service - it's our genuine love of motorbikes!

At Donna's MOT and Tyre centre, we can carry out a 50 point check on your motorbike to ensure it is safe to ride and so it won't have you ringing the AA halfway through your trip.

With the Country now slowly coming out of lock down, we look forward to welcoming more customers into our garage workshop in March, Cambridgeshire - and we're also looking forward to getting out on our own bikes!

If you are ready to book your motorbike in for a service, just contact Donna's MOT and Tyre Centre in March to arrange - 01354 651790 - and our experienced team will be happy to help. Or if you'd like to keep updated with our latest Motorbike events, contact us to be added to our list!

Stay safe and happy riding!
