With so many people on the road today, it's not hard to imagine how busy some garages get, sometimes booking a month in advance. But a busy garage may not always be a sign of a good garage near you. So at Donna's MOT & Tyre Centre in Cambridgeshire we had a think about what we would advise our customers to look for when choosing the right mechanic and garage for your car.
1 - Professionalism
Firstly, does the garage you are thinking about booking your car in for MOT at have a professional website? Not only does this show that they are willing to put some effort into their appearance, but that they care about how their customers and suppliers view them. Are they diaplying all the services they offer or just a name and address? Maybe your camper van needs a service but do they have a ramp big enough? Or maybe you need an MOT for a trike - but are they licensed for 3 wheeler MOT's (or Class 3 MOT's) at their garage?
2 - Transparency
At Donna's Garage in March you will find our pricing openly displayed on our website. Whether you are booking an MOT, an interim service or a historic MOT for your vintage classic camper van, you should be advised of the prices before you book your vehicle in for work. Sometimes you will need to have an inspection of your vehicle before you are given a quote, which is understandable; but after the vehicle has been inspected you should be given the price or at least an estimate, before any work is undertaken.
3 - Customer reviews
Reviews are great for businesses, especially when they are from actual customers verified through purchases. Another good reflection of whether a garage is good is when it has representation on trusted 3rd party sites like Trust A Trader, or in the case of Donna's MOT & Tyre Centre in March, on the Good Garage Scheme website.
